Shipping Charges
Installing and using the Tedarilog app is free; there is no subscription fee. The only amount a merchant pays is the shipping charge for their own orders.
How the shipping charge is formed
The shipping charge is not a fixed price we set. It is the amount the carrier calculates for that specific shipment, and it differs from one shipment to the next. It depends on:
- the desi of the parcel (its size and weight),
- the destination province and district,
- whether the order is cash on delivery,
- the return carriage cost if the parcel comes back.
Why it is not billed through Shopify
The shipping charge is a fluctuating carrier and label cost: the amount is only known once the shipment is created and the carrier has priced it. It is therefore not a fixed fee that can be defined in advance through Shopify's billing system.
Shopify grants a billing exemption to apps that handle fluctuating shipping and label costs. Tedarilog is eligible for this exemption: shipping charges are billed outside of Shopify, through the prepaid balance described below.
How it is charged
- The merchant tops up a balance in the Tedarilog panel in advance.
- Before a shipping label is created, the charge for that shipment is shown on screen; once confirmed, it is deducted from the balance.
- If the shipment is cancelled before it is handed to the carrier, the charge is credited back.
- Top-ups, deductions, refunds and corrections are all listed line by line on the Balance Movements screen in the panel.
